Here is my application for , a group about superheroes!

Eli is actually supposed to have a lean but muscular body type, so at first I was going to give him a sleeveless hoodie in his superhero form. Then I remembered that I can't draw convincing muscles to save my life. I mean, he looks like a lightweight as it is, and my pitiful attempts at muscles made it even worse. So until I get some anatomy practice, I'm sticking with long sleeves, thank you very much. After all, who else is going to preserve what's left of Eli's dignity? >__>

Ability: Eli's powers are related to the earth.
-Enhanced Durability: a punch that would fracture a normal person's jaw might only give Eli a bruise, and he also has higher stamina. He can take a lot of physical punishment before he reaches his limits, and he can toughen his skin temporarily with a kind of natural earth/stone armor. He has to be touching the ground with his skin to create this armor, but it forms very quickly. (His skin literally takes on the attributes of concrete, or whatever stone/earth substance he was touching.) The downside to this power is that it makes his body denser, and thus, heavier. (Depending on how much armor is covering him at the time, he has to be careful in areas where the floor might not be stable.)
-Acute Danger Sense; an uncanny ability to know where or when to avoid certain places or situations. He has to be touching the ground to sense this, and the source of danger also has to be in contact with the earth. He can sense their movements and vibrations if he focuses hard enough. If only he'd had this ability before his exposure to the Second Wave.
-Because his powers require him to be touching the ground (concrete, asphalt, gravel, dirt; any stone or earth surface), he doesn't wear gloves or shoes. After all, when you can wear earth/stone armor to protect yourself, why bother with straps or laces? The armor makes his feet thicker and harder to distinguish the toes from each other, so even if he left footprints or fingerprints, they would look so vague as to be unreadable.

Weight: 167 lbs. (However, he gains mass when using his power; when fully "armored" he can weigh up to 210 pounds, more or less, even though he doesn't look any different.)
Distinguishing marks: A red triangle appears on his left cheek when he activates his ability. Other than that, his red hair is pretty visible, so that's why he wears a hood.

Personality:
-Eli tends toward a jesting nature, but when he gets riled up he is serious business. He can freak out at small things easily; however, when extreme situations come up he suddenly becomes calm(er) and focused. He hates sitting around doing nothing and always tries to keep himself occupied. He enjoys competitive sports and hand-to-hand combat, and he's the kind of guy you'd expect to see jump out of a plane with a parachute just for the rush. Yet, while he likes to have a good time, it is never at the cost of his personal morals which he holds in high value.
-He learns from example very well; if he sees someone punished for doing a bad thing, you can be sure he'll never even think about doing that. He is also very impressionable; if a person tells him he's doing something wrong or that he's not good enough, he'll strive with all his strength to live up to their high expectations. His determination and competitive nature make it impossible for him to give up easily, and when he puts his mind to something it's as good as done.
-As a man who lives in the moment, Eli is a poor planner and doesn't often think ahead, tending to just do things on a whim. As such, he is good at improvisation and he hardly ever dwells on the past; he doesn't let bad things plague him for long. He is the sort of person who comes up with insane plans off the cuff and somehow gets them to work. Still, although he is impulsive, he is not forgetful and can remember dates and appointments surprisingly well.
-Eli enjoys his independence, but also likes to be part of a group. A people person at heart, loneliness is something he doesn't like to go through for extended periods of time. Deep down inside, Eli fears failure more than anything. And to him, failure could be anything from breaking the law to forgetting his best friend's birthday. This fear is suppressed and he doesn't consciously acknowledge it, but it is the driving force behind his serious nature when he feels threatened. However, he doesn't agonize over things too much, preferring to just go with whatever seems best at the time.
-He is also notoriously bad at holding his alcohol down. (Yes, he's underage, but he was at a party and under a lot of peer pressure. It didn't end well and the experience made a bad impression on him.) He claims to be allergic to alcohol, and nothing makes him sicker faster than a few ounces of strong drink. Even the smell is enough to make him nauseous. This is probably the main reason why he wouldn't like going to bars even if he could. XD

Background:
Coming back from a nice winter holiday vacation, Eli stopped at his aunt's home in the afternoon to crash for a while since his place was on the other side of town. Of course, he couldn't stay idle for long and he decided to go out that night and do something. He saw all kinds of ads for a carnival and thought he might as well see what it was all about. When he got there, he was surprised by the number of people who had also come to see.
The announcer, a man dressed head to foot in black, introduced the show with a dramatic speech. Eli was starting to get a bad feeling about the man's choice of words, when suddenly a torrent of black goo rained down from above upon the startled audience. The curtains closed and the lights went out, and Eli shot up from his seat to run out of there before anything else weird happened. On his way out, he tripped and fell face-first into the dirt and concrete, skinning his hands, forearms, and left cheek. Bits of gravel and dirt got embedded in his skin, and without him noticing, the debris began to form a kind of second skin over his wounds.
He eventually got back to his apartment, seeing as how it was after midnight, and his aunt's family had locked up their house anyway. He was too freaked out by the weird carnival prank show (as he thought of it) to be tired, and instead took a shower, getting rid of the residual feeling of filthiness, although the goo had long since dissolved into water. It was then that he noticed his scrapes were covered with a tough plaster of compacted dirt and rocks, and he had a hard time scrubbing it off.
That was the first of many clues that led him to discover his armor ability. (I'm going to write a little story about this, continuing and explaining in greater detail.)
