Graffiti Dreams Before a Rose

EDIT: So I got a few critiques and finally fixed up the picture! Tell me what you think, and if there's anything else I could polish off. (Except that stupid rose; I just cannot get it to look good. ) I also added a texture to the background.

To explain: she is standing in front of the graffiti-rose. Just thought I'd make that clear before one of you misunderstands and I get embarrassed.

So this is Orla Zarkeff. She's not goth or emo, as one might suspect by first looking at her. She's simply an aloof, rather short 16-year-old who likes wearing black because it matches everything else. She's also pretty handy with a short sword.

She has two brothers: one older who moved away to another city to earn a living, and one younger who suffers a speech impediment and is very shy.

Felix (her beloved younger brother) has a knack for taking care of the dragons their father raises, and is up at early hours crooning to the hatchlings and turning the eggs under the warm lights.


One day, her parents send Orla and Felix to town to get some groceries, and when they return from their day-long trip (their farm is in the country), their house is burned to the ground, all the dragons are gone, and their parents are nowhere to be found! Felix rescues a few eggs from the ruins of the stables, but they're still on their own. So they set off, hoping to find their older brother and learn what happened to their dragons and parents.

I want to write a story with these guys, since I've got some other characters that fit into it as well.

AND-- when I say "dragons" I can see that you're all already getting the wrong idea. While I do have an original world for my "dragon" characters (like Bayna), this original world (with Orla & co.) have what we know as DINOSAURS that they CALL dragons. Oh yes. Aren't I clever? XD And instead of calling them "anklyosaurus" or "tyrannosaurus rex" like we do, they call them "Hoarding Spineshell" and "High Furytooth".

So...yeah. I think I'm getting serious about writing this thing. One of these days.
